Hey everybody! :) HAPPY NEW YEAR. I've been m.i.a. the past few months and I do feel badly about it. I didn't mean to abandon my lj bbs. I hope everyone is doing well.

I've just completed my first week of winter quarter...my classes really aren't too bad this time around: Mass Communications, Weather, and American Politics. I have to take the first and last so I can finally apply for my Journalism major. I've got every other prerequisite known to man out of the way, thank God. I'm only taking Weather because the two music classes I originally wanted were completely full so I was stuck sorting through entry level classes. But it's surprisingly interesting...and the professor's really cute too. Just saying.

On another note:

As you all know, I'm obsessed with music, songwriting, and the industry as a whole, so to supplement the crazy, I'm going to give my "weekly download" thing another go. I started it last year and swiftly got out of the habit, but I've realized that I really love "gifting"  mp3s for y'all to listen to.

This week: "We Are The People"-Empire of the Sun

Empire of the Sun's album came out in early 2009, but I only recently started getting into them. They're an...interesting duo, to put it lightly (Only check out their music videos if you can handle intense eccentricities.) If you enjoy groups like MGMT, Passion Pit, or even Phoenix, you might want to give them a listen.

People's music snobbery really pisses me off sometimes. Just because something's mainstream doesn't mean it's shit. That attitude is just so played out. Idk, but I think I'm comfortable enough with myself that I won't apologize for liking a certain kind of music. I'm open minded that way.

These guys are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. The videos below show the band performing in a couple locations in Paris (including on a double decker tour bus) and it's just cool to hear them rocking out without post production and all that. They're very good, so if you haven't heard of them, I encourage you to have a listen!

idk, I'm on a Lord of the Rings kick. I needed something to motivate me for my midterms a couple weeks ago and this picture was PERFECT. I think I found it on ONTD or something. In any case, this is going to stay my desktop until the end of the quarter. Hearing Gandalf yell at me whenever I get lazy is exactly what I need XD

I would just like to say that the late, great  JE MEME OF  ABSOLUTE DISDAIN was glorious in every possible way. Some hate, lots of lulz and glittery happiness all over the place. What a wonderful thing to enjoy in the midst of my sickness. I thank you all for the magnificent journey. All 71 (and a sliver) pages of it ^_^ You people are AMAZING.

But the very last post...WTAF. Really.

Sakurai to Vancouver; Ikuta to Itabashi

Arashi's resident Picasso Sakurai Sho will be participating in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games to be held in Vancouver. He will briefly join the Japanese broadcasting team in Canada to cover the national team in snowboarding, figure skating, and curling.

Sakurai is hopeful that this will turn out better than his failed attempt to blast off into outer space. He is researching the nuanced and elaborate history of the sport of curling and hopes to demonstrate his knowledge upon his arrival in Vancouver next year. An Arashi single about the beautiful grace of the Japanese curling team is expected with rap lyrics from Sakurai.

"Icy Love ~ Push Push ~ Broom no Kokoro" is expected to hit number one on the Oricon charts before it is even released and will include a PV of Arashi in bright pink see-through parkas riding snowmobiles.

In news closer to home, Johnny's Jr Ikuta Toma will be the MC for an event at a franchise of the American chain TGI Friday's in Itabashi next week. KAT-TUN and NEWS fans will face off in "Crazy Fans Crazy Fries Crazy Friday's" where those groups' strangest devotees will see how many french fries they can eat before declaring the other group to be useless and clawing at their fans' eyes.

Osaka native and NEWS fanatic K-chan claims that she will "eat the babies of every Taguchi fan with mayonnaise" while Chiba resident and KAT-TUN enthusiast R-chan will "slaughter the wicked and feast upon the entrails of Nishikido Ryo in front of his fans." It should be an event to remember.

Kanjani 8 fans have petitioned to be included in the event as they are "just as bloodthirsty," but there has been no word from the TGI Friday's or Johnny's Entertainment. Ikuta is allegedly "confused" as to why he's been asked to MC this event.

Quick explanation, Bumbershoot is an annual arts and music festival held in Seattle Center. I only bought tickets for the third and final day because of Franz Ferdinand ;)
